|With a significant Enterprise CAPEX portfolio concentrated in large and mega projects Williams decided it was time to ditch Excel for a true Cost Management Solution. With a complex organizational structure, impending mergers & acquisitions, and a willing Operating Area (OA), the team embarked on a journey to prove that a solution would be successful and provide meaningful value to the Engineering Services organization. Turns out, proving success on that scale was the easy part.
As the journey expanded to include another operating area, new requirements, business processes, and project types were uncovered – setting off a new effort to improve functionality and work to align the different OAs. As part of this effort, some of the early design decisions needed to be reviewed as they began to introduce challenges with usability to the project controls team. Additionally, a third OA began demanding access to EcoSys – introducing new project types, requirements, and performance expectations. These new complexities required further refinement of business processes across the OAs to achieve the goal of an enterprise cost management platform.
As this leg of the journey heads to go-live, the team has successfully added new modules, new capabilities, improved performance, and obtained agreement on a standard approach to project controls across their OAs. This effort is enabling Williams to more accurately forecast and manage CAPEX, providing better insights into complex Programs, and optimizing project controls staffing by allowing cross-OA mobility.
This presentation will take you through Williams journey with EcoSys and how they have been able to achieve a Standardized Enterprise Cost Management Platform and the next legs in the journey.
